How scan quota works
Last updated: November 3, 2026
Each target has its own quota of automated scans, set by its plan. Starting a scan uses one from that target's quota.
Check a target's quota
The quota is shown when choosing targets for a scan. In Select Targets to Scan, each target row shows how much is used, for example 0 of 1000 used. Read more in How to start an automated scan.
The plan's allowance is added again each time the subscription renews.
What counts toward the quota
- Every automated scan started on the target, by hand or by a schedule, whether it completed, failed or was cancelled.
- A cancelled or failed scan stops counting once it's deleted. Read more in How to cancel or delete a scan.
- Scans that were never created don't count. For example, when the connection check fails before launch, no quota is used.
When the quota runs out
The target can't be selected for a new scan, and its tooltip reads "You've used all Automated Scan quota on this target. Contact support to add more." Scheduled runs on that target are skipped and marked Needs attention.
To keep scanning:
- Delete cancelled or failed scans that are no longer needed.
- Contact Astra support to add scans, or upgrade the plan for a larger allowance. Read more in How to manage your subscription and billing.
FAQ
The dashboard says our quota is used up, but we've only run a few scans this year. Why?
Quota is counted per target, not per account. It includes every scan started on that target, including failed and cancelled ones and scans started by a schedule. Check the used count for the target in Select Targets to Scan, and delete cancelled or failed scans that aren't needed. If the numbers still look wrong, contact Astra support.
