How-To: Fix Automatic Payments in India Due to RBI Regulations
Last updated: June 5, 2026
Introduction
Due to Reserve Bank of India (RBI) regulations, automatic payments processed in India are limited to ₹5,000 INR per transaction. If your subscription renewal exceeds this limit, you may need to re-enter your payment details to ensure uninterrupted service. This change affects all automatic subscription renewals processed in India.
Prerequisites
You must have an active Astra account with an existing subscription.
Your subscription renewal amount must exceed ₹5,000 INR for this change to apply. If your renewal amount is under ₹5,000 INR, you may not be impacted.
Instructions
Step 1: Sign In to Your Astra Account
Log in to your Astra dashboard using your credentials.
Step 2: Navigate to Subscription Settings
Go to My Account → Subscription Settings or navigate directly to the Subscription Settings page.
Step 3: Update Your Payment Information
Locate the relevant subscription and click Modify Plan.
Select Update Payment Info.
In the pop-up window that appears, select your preferred payment method and re-enter your payment details.
Once submitted, the payment processor will attempt to bill your payment source and renew the subscription automatically going forward.
Expected Outcome
After re-entering your payment details, your subscription will renew automatically without interruption. Note that re-entering your payment details is a one-time step required to comply with RBI regulations.
