How-To: Fix Automatic Payments in India Due to RBI Regulations

Last updated: June 5, 2026

Introduction

Due to Reserve Bank of India (RBI) regulations, automatic payments processed in India are limited to ₹5,000 INR per transaction. If your subscription renewal exceeds this limit, you may need to re-enter your payment details to ensure uninterrupted service. This change affects all automatic subscription renewals processed in India.

Prerequisites

  • You must have an active Astra account with an existing subscription.

  • Your subscription renewal amount must exceed ₹5,000 INR for this change to apply. If your renewal amount is under ₹5,000 INR, you may not be impacted.

Instructions

Step 1: Sign In to Your Astra Account

Log in to your Astra dashboard using your credentials.

Step 2: Navigate to Subscription Settings

Go to My Account → Subscription Settings or navigate directly to the Subscription Settings page.

Step 3: Update Your Payment Information

  1. Locate the relevant subscription and click Modify Plan.

  2. Select Update Payment Info.

  3. In the pop-up window that appears, select your preferred payment method and re-enter your payment details.

Once submitted, the payment processor will attempt to bill your payment source and renew the subscription automatically going forward.

Expected Outcome

After re-entering your payment details, your subscription will renew automatically without interruption. Note that re-entering your payment details is a one-time step required to comply with RBI regulations.
