How to re-connect the Website Protection plugin on your site

If the Astra Dashboard is not able to connect with the Website Protection plugin installed on your website, you may see a warning in your dashboard. This means that when you take any action on the Astra Website Protection Dashboard, it will not get synced with the plugin and the changes will not take affect immediately.

To re-connect your website, you can try the following steps. After performing every step, please retry the connection from your dashboard to verify it.

Plugin Disconnected Warning

Step 1 - Enter a new Activation Code

Navigate to the Settings page for the website where you see this warning
Scroll down and click on the Re-install Astra button
Before we re-install the plugin, let us first try to resolve the issue by entering a new Activation Code. Click on Show Activation Code to generate a new code.
Visit the Activation Page URL as shown in the dashboard & enter the new Activation code. The URL will be similar to example.com/?astraRoute=api/login
Now come back to the Astra Dashboard, and click on the Retry button in the warning screen. If you still face an error, try the next step.

Generate New Activation Code

Step 2 - Update to the latest plugin

Since entering the Activation code did not work, let us try to install the latest version of the plugin on your website. Since there is a connection error, it is recommended to manually re-install the plugin, rather than using the automatic plugin updates from the dashboard.

First, we have to uninstall the plugin which is currently installed on your site. You can find detailed steps on how to do that in our Help articles.
Now navigate to the Settings page for the website where you see this warning, and click on the Re-install Astra button
Download the latest plugin, and follow the steps mentioned on the screen for your CMS
If the Activation screen asks for a new code, generate a new one from the dashboard and enter it
Now come back to the Astra Dashboard, and click on the Retry button in the warning screen. If you still face an error, try the next step.

Step 3 - Request plugin installation

If none of the other steps worked, you can request our support team to install the plugin for you.

Navigate to the Settings page for the website where you see this warning, and click on the Re-install Astra button
Click on the text Request plugin installation and fill in the server connection details. This information is required for our support team to login to your server, and install the plugin on your behalf. Please delete the credentials after the issue has been resolved.
Alternatively, you can create a support ticket from your dashboard with the PHP error logs on your server, so that our team can look into the issue and guide you accordingly.
