Overview: Target Settings Page
Last updated: October 11, 2026
Introduction
The Target Settings page is where you view and update your target’s configuration after it has been created. The tabs under Target Setup depend on your target type. The General settings are the same for every target.
Key Functions
Target: Shows the target name, ID, workspace and owner. You can rename the target, add a label, use Go to to jump to related pages, or click Start a Scan.
Target Setup: Settings specific to your target type, such as scope, credentials, app details and additional notes. Keep these up to date so scans and pentests match your current setup.
General: Settings:
Basic Information: Details used in scan reports, certificates and dashboard summaries. These include the External Identifier, the Business Name shown on generated certificates, the Scope URI for Report, and the Default assignee, who is automatically notified and responsible for new vulnerabilities.
Excluded Scan Rules: Rules that are excluded from scans.
Member Settings: Who has access to the target.
Subscription Settings: The target’s subscription.
Available Actions
Update a setting: Open the tab, edit the fields and click Save Changes. The button stays disabled until you make a change.
Rename the target: Click the pencil icon next to the target name.
Add a label: Click Add label under the target name.
Start a scan: Click Start a Scan at the top right.
Best Practices
Check the Business Name before a pentest ends, since it appears on your certificate.
Set a Default assignee so new vulnerabilities reach the right person right away.
Update your target settings after major releases or changes to your setup.
Use labels to group related targets.
