How to Track the Progress of a Pentest

Introduction

After requesting a pentest or vetted automated scan, Astra's security analysts will analyze your application and set an estimated completion date. You can track progress and delivery status directly from the dashboard at any time.

Prerequisites

  • An active pentest or vetted scan request submitted

  • Access to the Astra dashboard

Steps

1. Wait for the estimated completion date to be set

Once your pentest or vetted scan is requested, the security analysts will review your application and assign a deadline. This gives you a clear expectation of when results will be available.

2. View the deadline on the Scan Details page

Navigate to the specific scan's details page. The estimated completion date is displayed prominently here for quick reference.

3. View the deadline on the Scans List page

Go to the Scans List page to see deadlines across all your ongoing scans simultaneously — useful if you are managing multiple targets.

4. Check your email for updates

You will receive email alerts with deadline information as the scan progresses. If the team needs additional information from you to proceed, you can reply directly to the open support ticket referenced in the email.

5. Monitor the delivery status

Analysts update the delivery status throughout the engagement. Check the dashboard for one of the following statuses:

  • On Track for Delivery — Progress is on schedule with no delays.

  • Running Behind — There are delays and the estimated completion time may be affected.

  • Delivery Blocked — Progress is blocked due to a specific issue. You may need to provide additional information.

  • Delivery Completed — The scan is complete and results are ready for your review.

Expected Outcome

You can see the estimated deadline on both the Scan Details and Scans List pages, receive email updates as the scan progresses, and always know the current delivery status without needing to contact support.

Troubleshooting

No deadline visible on the dashboard — The analysts may still be reviewing your application. Allow up to 24 hours after submission for the deadline to be set.

Delivery Blocked status showing — Check your email for a support ticket requesting additional information and reply with the details asked for.

Not receiving email updates — Check your spam folder for emails from no-reply@getastra.email, or verify your email address is correctly set in your profile settings.
