Can I Configure a Target Using a Custom HTTP Host Header?

Last updated: June 6, 2026

Currently, Astra does not support customizing the HTTP Host header of a target. The Host header is automatically determined based on the target URI being scanned.

Recommended Solution

If you need to set up a target using a load balancer host with a custom Host header, the recommended approach is to assign a domain or subdomain to the load balancer in your infrastructure and use that as your target URI in Astra.

Here's how to do it:

For Unverified Targets

If you have not yet verified your target URI, you can directly update the target URI in the Astra dashboard to reflect the newly assigned domain or subdomain.

For Already Verified Targets

If your target URI has already been verified, please create a support ticket with the new target URI and our team will assist you with the update.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • The assigned domain or subdomain must be properly configured and pointing to the load balancer before adding it as a target in Astra.

  • Ensure that the target URI is entered correctly in the Astra dashboard, including the correct URL scheme (http:// or https://) that matches your load balancer's configuration.

  • The Host header will automatically be set based on the domain you provide as the target URI.

Example: If you have assigned example.com as the domain to your AWS ELB, you can add https://example.com as the target URI in Astra. The Host header will then automatically be set to example.com during scanning.
