Jira Integration Help Article

Integrating Jira with the Astra Security Dashboard can help streamline your security incident management process and ensure efficient tracking and resolution of security-related events and vulnerabilities. This help article provides a step-by-step guide on how to integrate Jira with the Astra Security Dashboard.

How to Connect JIRA Integration to Your Astra Platform?

JIRA is a workspace-level integration that enhances issue tracking across your projects. Here's how to set it up:

Navigate to the Integrations Page:

Go to the Integrations section in your Astra Dashboard and locate the JIRA integration card.

Click on the Connect Button:

Click on Connect to open the side sheet with details about the JIRA integration.

Enter Required Details:

In the side sheet, fill in the necessary fields such as JIRA instance URL, your email address, and the API token.

JIRA Instance URL: The base URL of your JIRA instance (e.g., https://yourcompany.atlassian.net).
Email Address: The email associated with your JIRA account.
API Token: A security token for authentication.

Steps to get API Token:
* Open the API Token page in Jira
* Enter a label for the key
* Generate the key and copy it

After filling in the details, click on Connect. The system will authenticate your credentials and complete the integration.

Success Message:

Once the process is complete, a success message will appear, and the JIRA integration will move to the Active Integrations section.

How to Create JIRA Issues for Your Vulnerabilities

Once JIRA is integrated with Astra, you can create JIRA issues directly from the Astra Dashboard for any detected vulnerabilities. Here’s how:

Go to the Vulnerabilities Page:

Navigate to the Vulnerabilities page or the Scan Details page in your Astra Dashboard.

Open Vulnerability Details:

Click on the specific vulnerability for which you want to create a JIRA issue. In the Vulnerability Details sheet, you will see the Create JIRA Issue button at the top, below the vulnerability name.

Note: After creating a JIRA issue, this button will change to Open in JIRA.

Create JIRA Issue:

Click on the Create JIRA Issue button. This opens a side sheet where you need to fill in the following details:

Project: Select the JIRA project where the issue will be created.
Issue Type: Choose the type of issue (e.g., Bug, Task).
Additional Details: Provide any extra information required for the issue.

Submit the Issue:

Once you’ve filled in the details, click on Add to JIRA. You will see a success message once the issue is created.

View the Issue in JIRA:

Go to your JIRA project to view the newly created issue. The issue will link back to the vulnerability details in Astra.
